I have a question about the blood video
by blindersoff induring the week of jan 30 at the service meeting, the society's video "a video that highlights an important medical trend" will be discussed using the 12 questions listed below.
does any one know if any of the information in this particular video is mis-quoted or mis-represented?
notice that none of these questions involve scriptures - only medical viewpoints.

I don't suppose anyone has a transcript of the video? I have a feeling it might become extremely valuable evidence ...

(barbara's thread, but she's used up her two-thread limit for today!

Good questions...
Will we be sending out e-mail notices of the Big News or will this "clearing house" be sending out the notices once we forward to them a list of local agencies' e-mail addresses we compile?
To be honest, and this is just my personal opinion, I'm not in favour of sending emailing addresses to a central clearing house. I think it raises just the sort of problems you mention.
I favour the idea of those of us who wish to get involved, making our own lists and sending out the emails ourselves. After all, I guess it's not like we're going to be sending out millions of emails that would get our ISP annoyed, more like a hundred or two I suppose.
Again, it's a personal decision whether or not to use our real names: many here would like to but feel contrained by family circumstances to retain their anonymity. Fine. Create an anonymous email account on Hotmail or Yahoo or whatever.
Barbara will no doubt give us some guidance of what to write, or at least will no doubt post a copy of one of the ones she has written, which we can then use as a template.
Will the "clearing house" be sifting thru the e-mail address we give them to avoid sending duplicate e-mails?
Another good reason for sending out our emails ourselves.
If we have e-mail addresses of private citizens such as our former elders, or our relatives who are still active JW are we to forward these private e-mail addresses to the "clearing house"?
I would suggest to definitely not to send in private email addresses. If I thought my private email address had been given to someone else without my permission, I'd get really annoyed. But if a personal friend sent me an email, that would be quite a different matter.

THE NEWS IS BIGGER THAN DATELINE, BBC, CBC, ETC.
by AndersonsInfo inif i told you that something bigger is on the horizon than dateline, bbc, cbc, sunday (australia), and all other tv programs which exposed the sexual child abuse cover-up by watchtower in 2002-2003, would you believe me?
have i ever misled you?
i'll answer that--no!

Scandal of December 2005 km
by IT Support inthe december canadian kingdom ministry has an article "could your child make a mature decision.
" it instructs parents to indoctrinate their kids to refuse blood and make themselves a martyr.
this, to me, was one of the most chilling sentences in the article (paragraph 3):

Swalker,
I hope this is NOT a blood issue...it has been before the courts for years and viewed upside down and inside out.
I guess we'll just have to wait till Barbara tells us what it is.
I for one appreciate the Constitution upholding our rights to choose in this matter. I will NOT be an activist for trying to change freedom.
There's probably not a single person here who would disagree with you, certainly not me.
That being said, I don't think that children should die at the hands of uneducated parents and I do agree that in that case drs. should administer what they feel is needed. If a dr. gives a child a blood transfusion and the parents disagree with that decision, then they will just have to get over it and realize it was the dr. not them that is responsible.
-ditto-
I think the WTS should change their stance on that issue.
I'm going from memory here, but I don't think the elders would hold the parents responsible in this situation. But I could just as easily be wrong...
But as an adult, I want the right to choose and I don't want to be forced to take any treatment that I don't want.
I don't think anyone's arguing with you here...
If, however, the GB owns bloodbanks, and is giving transfusions at Bethel, then I'm in! That would be BIG NEWS!!!
<lol>

Some seem to be criticizing Barbara for giving advance notice of what is about to happen. But she had a very good reason for giving advance notice. It was to ensure we made an impact. Is it wrong to want to make an impact? You might have the most devastating news around about the WT, but if you don't tell anyone, you might as well be pissing in the wind. You'll achieve nothing.
In order to make the maximum impact from the Big News, the media and other professions around the world need to be notified. But we're not professional PR people: sure, you can hire a firm who have contacts with all the 'right' people to make a big impact, but that's going to cost mega bucks we don't have. So we have to rely on doing things ourselves. Does that reduce the professionalism of the impact? Perhaps. But what we lose in professionalism, we more than make up for with the passion and enthusiasm of people who have a lot to gain from seeing WT getting its come-uppance. Plus, if thousands of people around the world all email contacts local to them, it adds a personal touch that no amount of slick professionalism can match. (Not that I've anything against slick professionalism, I just can't afford it!)
If some people would read the threads more carefully, they would see that Barbara didn't mention it just to tease (though that's good fun as well ), but to generate a bit of excitement and to give us all time to gather together our email contacts so when it does break, we can achieve maximum impact by waging our own electronic blitzkrieg.
Those who are griping and complaining are the equivalent of the kid who throws a screaming tantrum in the middle of the supermarket, shrieking to their mom, "I want it NOW." So let me turn this around to those who are so upset and ask them, since you first learned that something Big was about to break, what have YOU done to prepare to tell everyone in your locality about it? How many people are on YOUR email list? It takes time to gather that information, to trawl the internet, to call people up in the many local organizations that would benefit from this information and ask for their email addresses. Then, you can call yourself an ACTIVIST, and do something positive to strike back at WT rather than just moan about those who are doing something.
If you need more information on what to do, see http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/11/103353/1788381/post.ashx#1788381.
So, was Barbara wrong to give people here advance warning of what was about to happen? Absolutely not.
OK, it's unfortunate that the information is taking a couple of days longer than expected to be published. As others have already said, months ago Barbara was given a general indication that the material would be published 'around the middle of December.' A week or so ago, she was then told it would be Monday 12th, so she started her Big News thread on Saturday 10th. Not unreasonable, I'd suggest. Yesterday she learned there was illness at the publishers and the material would be delayed a couple of days.
Big deal. Grow up. Get some email addresses.
